The Zoo Education Service offers experimental teaching with live animals for all age groups from preschool to adults. Furthermore, a wide range of instruction materials have been created for use before, during and after a visit to the Zoo.
Every year, more than 65,000 school children visit the Zoo as part of their schooling. Watching, smelling and hearing an elephant or a tiger provide the children with immediate animal experiences that can never be replaced by TV. These experiences are important to children as they may form a frame of reference to help the children understand the surrounding environment and the nature on which we all depend.
